Cosmic Medal Monday - 22nd July 2026
June 2026
What Cosmic Capers have been happening this week?
We had a good training session with Ewen on Tuesday evening, the sloping field at Craigbank adding an extra dimension to the 2 min out and backs.
Meanwhile, Alan Cormack and Graeme Lornie were toiling North in the Summer Spine. Sadly, Graeme retired at Low Way Farm (CP3) but he had already covered an amazing 254k with 7034m of ascent. Alan finished on Saturday afternoon, his 5th Summer Spine and equalling the record for number of finishes. Lyndsay was assisting at Race HQ.
Fiona MacDonald did the Metro Beach 10k on Friday evening in 46.48.
Tina McLeod and Lesley Marshall were support runners for the West Highland Way.
Veronique Oldham did The Lawbreaker, an SHR Championship Race this year, finishing 1st F60 and 1st F50.
On Saturday, Linda Smith completed the Munros. She had saved Schiehallion for last and was accompanied by friends, family, workmates and clubmates including Richard Lang, Terri Walker and Anita Hamilton to celebrate at the top (and bottom) on a beautiful day. Well done Linda!
Parkuns were:
Hazlehead - Kevin Heath and Ewen Rennie
Aberdeen - Ally Sutherland
Jamaica Pond - Rory MacPherson
Cosmics have continued to run, walk, cycle and accumulate metres for the Elevation Challenge which currently stands at 292,370m in 53 days. Marianne Lang has snatched back the lead from Davie. Rob Jobling has surged into 4th after his exploits in the Pyrenees and also a Solstice expedition on Bennachie.
