Cosmic Medal Monday - 18th June 2026

May 2026

The main excitement this week was the Pressendye Race on Thursday evening with a good turnout of 12 Cosmics among the 43 starters. The weather was mixed with some sun and some rain and going up you were battling against a strong wind and the slower runners were treated to a hailstorm at the top. It is a lovely route however and a well organised, low key race. First Cosmic to finish was Mark Stockton followed by Rob Jobling. Jason Williamson was 1st M50 and he was followed by Richard Lang and Rory MacPherson. Fiona McDonald finished a minute behind her daughter Samantha who must have ran a speedy descent. They were followed by Richard Ingram and Kevin Heath who was 1st M60. Another fast descender was Ian Hamilton who made up several minutes going down, then Linda Smith who was 1st F60 closely followed by Anita Hamilton, then Alan Dick. Pressendy was the 3rd counter for the 2026 Cosmic Championship. Unsurprisingly, the top positions are occupied by those wo have done all 3 races with Rory MacPherson leading Alan Dick. 7 Cosmics have done 2 and 9 Cosmcis have done 1 race. It is 4 races out of 7 that count so there is still time to join in and complete the next 4 races. Please note that it is only paid up members that are eligible for the Championship.

On Saturday, we had some parkrunners:

Ganavan Sands: Andrea Drummond

Tooting Common: Dave Kirk

Hazlehead: Graeme Lornie and Ewen Rennie

Aberdeen: Rory MacPherson, Lyndsay McEwan and Ally Sutherland

Cosmics had a good Sunday run from Blackhall Forest over Scolty and back. Cosmics were ranging far and wide on foot and bike and even kayak collecting metres for the Elevation Challenge. Currently, after 17 days, the total is 89,290m. Sam Gomersall has taken the lead with lots of mountain biking in Czechia, Marianne Lang is now 2nd with Davie in 3rd. Apart from the Pressendye Race, the latest activities include coastal runs, local hills, cycling over the Cairn o' Mount and more.
