Cosmic Medal Monday - 11th May 2026
May 2026
First off this week, it was Krunce number 2 on Tuesday evening. This one was organised by partner club Garioch Road Runners. It was a beautiful evening for running, sheltered from the cold wind among the trees. The first Cosmic to finish was Richard lang, closely followed by Rory MacPherson and Fiona McDonald who was first female and 1st F40. Kevin Heath was 2nd M60 and Annaelle Harris-Logie was 2nd F and 1st Senior Female. Stuart Ritchie finished just behind as 1st Senior Male. Shayne Lilith-Moon was 2nd F50, Colin Larmour was next and then Ian Hamilton just managing to stay infront of Tina McLeod who was running well after the big effort in the Devil o' the Highlands the weekend before. Anita Hamilton was 1st F60.
Parkruns on Saturday were:
Hazlehead - Ewen Rennie
Ellon - Graeme Lornie
Having run parkrun, Graeme wen on just a few hours later to do the Formartine & Buchan Ultra 6hr version covering 27.97 miles and Jim Currie covered 32.31 miles making him 3rd male overall. In the 12 hour version of the event, Lyndsay McEwan covered 46.62 miles to be 3rd F40 and Alan Cormack covered 61 miles for 2nd M50. A fantastic result for Cosmics!
As if that wasn't enough for the weekend, Lyndsay and Alan then took part in the Duthie Park 10k on Sunday finishing in the very creditable times of 1hr 41secs and 47mins 31secs respectively. Truly, these folk are a different breed to the rest of us!
It was a beautiful morning for the Cosmic Sunday run at Pressendye. 8 of us om the top but a few different routes taken back. More than 2,000 metres was "earned" for the Cosmic Elevation Challenge along the way. After 11 days, the total is sitting at 55,819 metres. A fantastic effort accumulated from running, walking, cycling, kayaking and some heroic Munro bagging, trig point collecting and many explorations. Dave Kirk is now in the lead after some mammoth MTB / run / walk expeditions followed by Marianne Lang, Colin and Veronique Oldham. Well done everyone! There is still room for more Cosmics to take on the challenge and it's a big target so the more the merrier. Every bit of elevation made counts for the total and every small bit of sponsorship adds to the money raised. if you fancy joining, just message Annaelle on Spond and she will arrange for you to join. You can also join the Whatsapp group if you fancy it. Many thanks to Annaelle and Gillian for setting up the Challenge.
Finally for this Monday, the new Cosmic kit is available. Many thanks to Tina for setting this up. Just choose and order what you want online from Nordikota and they will print to order.
