Cosmic Medal Monday - 13th April 2026
April 2026
The weather pattern of recent weeks seems to give a lovely Spring day or so midweek and then turned back to cold wind / rain / snow at the weekend. The same happened this week with perfect running conditions for the first Krunce of the year on Tuesday evening with new Cosmic Organisers Linda Smith and Tina McLeod. All went smoothly on the night. 12 Cosmics took part with about the same number as marshals / trail runner / First Aid / Timing. The race was won by Lachlan Kirk (Stonehaven) and the first Cosmic was Rory MacPherson in 8th place overall. First Female was Kelly Vine-Jones in 4th place overall and the first Cosmic lady was Shayne Lilith-Moon. Our only podium place was Phil Kammer as 1st M70. The next race on 5th May will be organised by Garioch Roadrunners so hopefully more Cosmics can take part.
There were no Cosmics taking part in parkrun so everyone must have either been running or helping at Clachnaben Hill Race. Wind and rain lashed the area overnight but organisers Graeme Cumming and Alan Cormack and their team were not dismayed. Even when the Cosmic gazebo tried to take flight. Conditions had improved a lot by the start time, you could even see some shadows in the photos and though some folk got impressively muddy, there were lots of smiles, especially when people got to the cakes. Many thanks to Graeme and Alan and all the fantastic volunteers who stood on the hill tops in freezing winds or were out for ages sweeping the course. This was also the second race counting toward the Cosmic Championship for this year.
