Virtual Suie Hill (Netherton Farm) race - during January

January 2021

Sadly with Covid we cannot go ahead with the annual Netherton Farm gathering on New Years day. The new "one off " format for 2021 is instead as follows:

  • Athletes can complete the normal approx 4 mile distance at any time from 01 to 31 January 2021. Please record your time and run date and then email me with your result.
  • The run will be "back to front" - i.e. please start at the usual half way turn point just over the brow of the hill on the south facing side of the Suie. There is some limited parking at this point or alternatively you can park in the main Gordon Way car park 200 yards north of this point on the opposite side of the road. The halfway/ turn point will be at Netherton. At the top of the Netherton hedged road on the LHS of the auld shed gable end there is a telephone pole with a Suie Race sign pinned to it. Tap the pole with your left foot Nike and then run back down the road and up the Suie to the aforementioned start / finish point.
  • Although the format is out of necessity a bit lonesome  - remember under the Covid rules - family bubles can run together and you can run with someone from outside your household.
  • The person with the fastest time will have their name engraved on the Suie Hill Race Shield. Current holder is Clyde Willaimson. Based on previous times / track record there will also be a handicap competition as per the last two years with a prize for the winner. In totalling the handicap scores there will be additional bonus points awarded to anyone who undertakes the race on either New Years Day or Burns Day on 26 January.
  • I will email out the final results during February and the Prizegiving Ceremony will be held at Netherton on 01 January 2022 in conjunction with next year's event.
