Louise's Roundup 13 April 2020

April 2020

Hello Cosmics

Apologies for not making it to the quiz last night (did it happen?) but i had various phone video calls etc that took up most of the evening.
I hope it went well? Is it something you would want to do again?

Heres a few things to look at if you are feeling a tad bored right now....

Well done for all of you getting out and completing various virtual challenges while we are still allowed out to run.

Alan Cormack is in the middle of the Covid19 challenge - 19 miles every day for 19 days. He also seems to be collecting Trig Points.

Aberdeen parks challenge

A few people have attempted Ewen's Aberdeen parks challenge in some form or another
The rules are......

"For those of you in town the challenge is to visit six different Parks - run from home to your chosen Start - take selfie with Park sign in background - pick your route to the next Park - repeat selfie - repeat for total of six different Parks. NB - Only Westburn or Victoria (not both). Possible Parks - Johnston Gardens, Hazlehead, Stewart, Seaton, Duthie, Allan (Cults), Kincorth Hill, Loirston Country.

Post time and route - plot on Mapometer to get distance and climb (I don't do Strava and Mapometer will give best route)"

I think Charlotte is very possibly in the lead with the number of parks visited in one run and Gillian has also completed the challenge with 6 parks visited in one run as per the challenge.

Sam Gomersall visited 6 parks in one run but not quite as per Ewen's list throwing in a sneaky additional one at Kaimhill.

I managed 3 on Saturday and another 3 yesterday (I added in a sneaky one that wasn't on Ewen's list too) and I believe James Wheater managed to visit 2.

Has anyone else had a go? Post your selfies on the Cosmics facebook page.

Ewen has also posted some info about Loirston park on the facebook page and i have attached a pdf document to this email - theres lots of interesting stuff up there!

Aberdeen Golf Course challenge

Message from Gillian below

"Hi there Cosmics
If you fancy running on something more forgiving underfoot why not try your local golf course they are spacious and empty this is a unique opportunity to explore them.
My personal favourite is Balnagask it has spectacular views and dolphins too.
Hazelhead and Kings Links are also pretty special.
The challenge is explore them and post a photo of your favourite bit.
Plus keep safe and remember social distancing.
Gillian

Everest challenge

We have a couple of breakaway leaders in the Everest challenge with Richard Bannister summitting Peak Lenin and Alan Cormack climbing the height of Mount Elbrus. Simon Bains is currently being chased by wolves, bats and count Dracula on the top of Mt Omu in Transylvania and I am at the summit of Pico Ruivo in Madeira. Which incidentally is exactly where I'm supposed to be right now. #bloodycoronavirus

Well done all. Lets see what this week brings.

Remember to post your selfies, news and challenge results on the Cosmics facebook page and let others know what you are up to.

I also wondered how many of you use Zoom? Would a virtual post run tea and cakes late Saturday morning be a plan?

Cheers for now. And remember to wash your hands.
