Use the parking near the church at the end of the Forest of Birse road. 

Head north of Fungle Road until you cut off west to Hill of Duchery heading further west until you catch the path near Craigmanhandle, run along ridge south on the Firmounth Road past Hill of Cart at high fence. go through and follow the fence line down. This will take you to the correct valley and also the path back to Forest of Birse. Roughly 18kms.

Remember the bridge at Aboyne over the Dee is closed, the nearest bridge is at Dinnet.
