Wellness - something that we are a little behind on in the UK. To spend time on your wellbeing is often seen as a luxury or “I don’t have enough time for that”. The fact of the matter is, how much time do you expend when you become ill? And can you afford that time? How much of an impact does that have on your life? Instead - would it be better to reduce the risk of illness, feel better each day and improve your happiness - at the expense of as little as 1 hour each week??

Maintaining an optimal level of wellness is absolutely crucial to live a higher quality life. Wellness matters. Wellness matters because everything we do and every emotion we feel relates to our well-being. In turn, our well-being directly affects our actions and emotions. It’s an ongoing circle, and therefore important for everyone to achieve optimal wellness in order to subdue stress, reduce the risk of illness and ensure positive interactions.

Salt therapy delivers the gift of relaxation. An hour of dedicated ‘you-time’ to sleep, read or meditate. At the salt rooms, you can enjoy a Halo Massage, a heated eye mask, or simply the peaceful sound of crashing waves during each session. It will come as no surprise to learn therefore that salt therapy improves mood, increases mental performance, relieves stress, improves sleep, and reduces snoring. Salt therapy has the ability to remove up to 99.97 % of all the airborne particles that cause detrimental effects to your health. This is due to each salt particle being negatively ionised. Don’t be fooled...There is nothing negative or unhealthy about negative ions. They are in fact beneficial for the human body - unlike their harmful positive counterparts which are found in polluted cities, crowded areas and in confined spaces such as offices, industrial areas, schools and cars.

Ions are invisible charged particles in the air - either molecules or atoms, which bear an electric charge. Some particles are positively charged and some are negatively charged. To put it simply, positive ions are molecules that have lost one or more electron, whereas negative ions are actually oxygen atoms with extra-negatively-charged electrons.

Odourless, tasteless, and invisible, negative ions are abundant in nature, and here at the salt rooms where all salt particles are negatively charged. You may have experienced the power of negative ions when you last set foot on the beach or walked beneath a waterfall. While part of the euphoria is simply being around these wondrous settings and away from the normal pressures of home and work, the air is said to contain tens of thousands of negative ions - Much more than the average home or office building, which contain dozens or hundreds, and many register a flat zero. Work commitments often dictate how much time we can spend ‘communing with nature’, and as such, the salt rooms offers all the benefits of a trip to the mountains, countryside or beach, but more in-line with your work schedule.

So what’s all the fuss about? Negative ions are present in the air we breathe and therefore also present in our bodies. Their contribution to overall well-being and health is scientifically proven:

  • They neutralize free radicals.
  • They revitalize cell metabolism.
  • They enhance immune function
  • They purify the blood
  • They balance the autonomic nervous system, promoting deep sleep & healthy digestion, and
  • Once they reach our bloodstream, they are believed to produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the serotonin, helping to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost our daytime energy.

And...the most important benefit of negative ions is that they clear the air of airborne allergens such as pollen, mould spores, bacteria, viruses dust, pet dander and cigarette smoke. They perform this function by attaching themselves to positively charged particles in large numbers and negatively charging those particles. As a result, these viruses, bacteria and pollen spores become too heavy to remain airborne and are thus prevented from entering your respiratory system where they can make you ill.

Please accept our invitation to join us at the salt rooms. We promise clean air, the healing power of salt, and an abundance of negative ions to enhance your physical and mental health. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
