Cheyne Hill Race

By popular request the Cosmics mid month hill race series continues with the Cheyne Hill Race on Tuesday 19/09/06, Stonehaven OS Map, start at Grid Ref NO 844883. Parking will be in a car park in the trees another 150m out of Stonehaven, just over the river bridge.
Cheyne Hill is on the Slug Road (A957) some 1.3 miles out from Stonehaven as measured from the Slug road crossing the A90 below.
Due to the ever shortening nights its imperative that we start at 6:30pm so that the slower competitors are not finishing in the semi dusk.
Price will be £2 to cover prizes.
Anyone injured will be most welcome as marshals and helpers.

The course is over a mixture of terrains from over grown land rover tracks to rabbit trods, however I shall mark the course with red and white tape and flour. Click on the attached pdf file for a map.

Kerloch

9th May 2006 was my second time at Kerloch and a thoroughly pleasant round. The route is 9 miles and starts near Strachan. Beware of the false summit! This hill has a lot of ups and downs before you get to the real summit. From there it is all downhill... Actually there is a total of 730m height gain. See for yourself.

29 April '06.
Not feeling ready for Stuc a' Chroin hill race today, Derek, Sarah and I duly followed the e-mail pointer and met up at Bennachie Visitor Center below Mither Tap.

Going for a longer run than a Tuesday night-er, we headed behind Millstone Hill, over the top and headed toward the West-end of the Bennachie plateau. Not finding a continuous path, our route took in several bogs and heather-stomps to very near the Mither Tap summit, but at two hours to this point, we reckoned on heading down, first toward Millstone and then along the Gordon Way.

Total: (moderate pace) 2h 15m, 16.7km, 725m ascent.
