Cosmic Saturday Run
Reports of the demise of the Saturday run seem to be grossly exaggerated! With the completion of the Summer racing, holidays etc we seem to be getting good turnouts again – at least at the ones I’ve been on.
Sat 12th October – PREVIEW Monymusk All Terrain Half Marathon – at least a dozen recce’d the route on a beautiful morning with maps in hand, finishing with lunch at the pub.
Sat 9th November – PRESSENDYE from Tarland – another lovely day, just a little ice underneath, 14 ran the gauntlet of a field of cows and completed the route (originally brought us by Jonathan Bellarby) ~21K,~690m. Coffee and cake in the park after.
Sat 16th November: CULBLEAN HILL from Cambus o’ May Forest walks. A new route from Bob Elder, just the 2nd running I think, another great day for the 12 Cosmics, some snow on top and it lived up to the promise in Bob’s route description of great views from the ridge. ~12.7k, ~470m Lavish supply of home-bakes at the picnic tables after.

Sat 30th November: MILLSTONE AND BENNACHIE from Donview – Jonathan, son Dan and dog Oscar did Millstone (I’m sure Oscar was up for more!) Steve led 3 energetic ones in some bushwacking to take in Scare Hill, Millstone and S top, Mither Tap, Garbet Tap and Bruntwood Tap (6 of Jason’s 11 tops), Anne led the canny brigade (herself, Hannah and Pauline) who did not go quite up to each summit and thereby had the remaining 6 of us (a conventional route over Millstone, Mither Tap, Craigshannoch and Oxen Craig, back by Gordon way~15.5K, ~650m) continually playing catch-up. Good weather again and the wind had dropped. Picnic tables provided at the car park again – maybe this has to become a requirement for future new runs?
