Bronze for Jason at Druim Fada

Jason Williamson had a good run at Druim Fada on Saturday battling against Ross Bannerman and Paul Maclean to the finish, only 15 seconds behind the winner. Full results can be found on the SHR website. Don’t forget the Meall a Buichalle hill race & SHR annual dinner on Sat 25 Nov – see social blog for more details.

Glen Clova 1/2

After a stormy drive down from Aberdeen the sunny skies and snow topped hills of Glen Clova made for a much more scenic day than any but the optimists had hoped for. Plenty of Cosmics decided to give road racing a go since the hill racing season is almost over and this half marathon is certainly a good one for a hill runner – not entirely sure what the height gain is but it must be pretty significant!

Dennis McDonald and Liz Chellingsworth led the Cosmic men and ladies home with good times (especially when you take into account the hills and wind!) and a sterling performance from virgin road racer Rob Brookes who had about 2 days notice (just proves mountain biking can’t be too bad for runners..)

21 Dennis McDonald 85.31
78 Liz Chellingsworth 96.34
83 Rob Brookes (aka Peter Larkin) 97.31
86 Anita Hamilton 97.42
98 Murray Bryce 99.36
119 John Colegrave 102.23
128 Ann Stone 103.08
170 Katie Parkin 109.16

Wingrove’s winning streak at OMM

Scuz (aka Sarah) Wingrove and partner Matthew Davis were in winning form at last weekend’s OMM (the new KIMM). In misty, wet conditions that saw more than 60% of the Elite class either missing controls or retiring (including famous names Angela Mudge, Jethro Lennox and Ranolph Fiennes) Scuz and Matthew gained 18th place overall and an excellent 1st Mixed Team. Well done!

Other intrepid Cosmics who ventured to the notorious Dumfries and Galloway hills included Simon Pearce with partner Steve Brock who clocked up 275 points and an impressive 17th place in the Medium score class. Linda Smith & Elaine Stewart were 46th place in the Short Score class while Sean O’Sullivan with sister Sarah tackled the Long Score (and survived!) in 198th position.

Not sure if there were any other Cosmics out there but from the look of the reports on Sleepmonsters it sounds like Saturday in particular was quite a challenge. Full results on the OMM website.
